Half a century of small kings ends in Assyria. Tiglath-Pileser I becomes king this year and at once marches north against the Mushki, twenty thousand of them by his count, and the map shows Assyria's red doubling as the hill country and the Habur come back under Assur. He will cross the Euphrates 28 times against the Aramaeans, reach the Mediterranean and hunt elephants in Syria. Babylon has recovered from the Elamite sack: Nebuchadnezzar I raided Susa a few years ago and brought the statue of Marduk home, the proudest deed of his dynasty. Egypt is drifting under the late Ramesside kings, its Nubian gold running out and tomb robbers at work in Thebes. The Phrygians hold Anatolia, the Philistines the coast, the Shang still rule at Anyang though the Zhou in the Wei valley are growing, and the Olmecs and Indo-Aryans keep their patches.

On the map Assyria's red doubles this year, spreading north and west from the Tigris. Tiglath-Pileser I has started his reign with a campaign against the Mushki in the hills, and the towns Assyria lost after Tukulti-Ninurta come back.

• ⚔️1158 BC Shutruk-Nakhunte of Elam sacks Babylon, ends the Kassite dynasty and carries Marduk's statue and Hammurabi's law stele to Susa.
• ✊1157 BC The tomb workers of Deir el-Medina lay down their tools over late rations, the first strike in any record.
• 🕯️1155 BC Ramesses III dies of a slashed throat in a plot led by a secondary wife. The plotters are tried and made to kill themselves.
• 👑1125 BC Nebuchadnezzar I becomes king of Babylon, of the new dynasty of Isin.
• ⚔️1120 BC Nebuchadnezzar raids Susa in the heat of summer, about this time, defeats the Elamites and brings the statue of Marduk back to Babylon.
• 🗺️1114 BC Tiglath-Pileser I takes the throne of Assyria and its red spreads north over the hill country.
