Lindbergh flew about 3,600 miles in 33 and a half hours, alone and with no radio. He packed five sandwiches and ate one and a half.
Life back then

Ford shut its factories for months to swap the Model T for the Model A, and dealers took deposits for a car nobody had been allowed to see. In Britain a wireless licence cost ten shillings a year, and the BBC, just turned into a public corporation, was the only thing on it. Records played on wind up gramophones that needed cranking again every few songs. Then The Jazz Singer opened in October, a singer spoke a few lines out of the screen, and the silent era began running out of time.
