The tomb in Egypt had been sealed for roughly 3,200 years. Count a family down from parent to child and that is more than 100 generations standing between the funeral and the day the door came open.
Life back then

Running water indoors was still a luxury. Plenty of houses had a pump in the yard and an outhouse out back, and a bath meant heating pans on the stove and filling a tin tub in the kitchen. Monday was washing day, done by hand with a washboard and a hand-cranked wringer, and it swallowed most of the day. Streets rang with engines and hooves together, because bakers, milkmen and coal merchants still delivered by horse. If you missed something, you waited for the evening paper.
